Putting God's Word into Practice…

Psalm 19 ~ The Wisdom of God

on July 7, 2014

This is probably one of my favorite chapters of the whole Bible!

19:1-6 All the world displays God’s Wisdom (The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims his handiwork.)

  • The heavens and the sky–kadrillions of stars, atmosphere, planets, moons, sun, etc…
  • Day and night give evidence of His perfection
  • Perfect circuit of the sun’s course illustrates His steadfast faithfulness and fullness

19:7-11 All His Word displays His wisdom (The Law of the Lord is perfect!)

  • It’s perfect and revives the soul
  • It’s sure and gives wisdom
  • It’s right and causes rejoicing
  • It’s pure and enlightening
  • It’s true and righteous
  • It’s desirable and sweet
  • It gives warnings and rewards

19:12-14 His Wisdom requires a response (Let the words of my mouth and the meditations of my heart be acceptable in your sight, O LORD, my rock and my redeemer.)

  • Want to be known by God as innocent of hidden and presumptuous sins
  • Don’t want to be ruled by any sins
  • Want our words and thoughts to be pleasing to God

“I wish I hads,” and “what ifs” ruin worship and lack wisdom.  God is in control of our past, present and future.  Dependence on Him cancels our past failures, seals future plans, and keeps us in His perfect presence!
