Putting God's Word into Practice…

Isaiah 2 ~ Rejecting the Reigning Lord

on February 26, 2014

(For our ladies’ Bible study this week, we were supposed to spend time in Isaiah 1-6.  It has been a rich buffet of learning and conviction, indeed!)

Verses 1-5 beautifully portray a time of victory for the Lord and what living under that victory looks like!  The reigning Lord brings wisdom (3), direction (3), peace (4), prosperity (4), justice (4), and light (5).  Not all people will come under His authority and walk according to His ways, but MANY will!!

Those who choose not to walk according to His ways and in His light will be rejected by Him.  In fact according to verses 6-22 God rejects all who:

  • are in partnership with unholiness
  • pin their hope on possessions
  • participate in idolatry
  • practice pride

God WILL humble mankind and exalt Himself.  His glory is always the supreme aim of all He does.  He is all-powerful over our partnerships, possessions, false gods, and pride.  Therefore we are called to, “Stop regarding man in whose nostrils is breath, for of what account is he?”  and instead fix our gaze on the “splendor of the Lord’s majesty.”
