Putting God's Word into Practice…

2 Timothy 2 Eternal Word and a Faithful God

on February 4, 2013

Eternal Word.  Paul wrote in verses 8-9, “REMEMBER JESUS CHRIST, risen from the dead…as preached in my gospel, for which I am suffering, bound with chains as a criminal. BUT THE WORD OF GOD IS NOT BOUND!”  God’s Word is unrestrained, unrestricted, uncontainable!  It has progressed unchanged even now for close to 2,000 years.  God’s Word goes forth forever accomplishing all that He purposes it to do, and it happens by people teaching it to people on and on through the generations.  Even in countries where God’s Word is physically prohibited, He gets it into people’s hands and it powerfully transforms lives.  I’m reminded of a story I read once of a Chinese prisoner who’s duty was to clean the warden’s bathroom.  He was angry and faithless.  He asked God to show him that He was real.  One day while cleaning the trash out, he found a feces-covered page of the Bible.  He took it back to his cell, cleaned it off and read it.  It changed his life.  He wanted more.  The next time he cleaned the bathroom, there were more feces-covered pages.  He would tenderly clean them and tuck them away until he had the opportunity to read them.  In those pages that man found life and a faithful God!!!  What was used as toilet paper by one man, became another man’s treasure.  God’s Word is unbound!

2 Timothy 2:13  “If we are faithless, he remains faithful–for He cannot deny himself.”
