Putting God's Word into Practice…

Ephesians 4:1-16 How To Measure Healthy Church Growth

on December 1, 2012

The amount of people in seats does not measure healthy church growth!  God’s Word defines a healthy church as one that is growing in unity, maturity and love!  How does that happen?

A mature, united, loving church is impossible apart from Jesus Christ!  He must be the head our of church!  He perfectly fits the body of believers together with the goal of becoming more and more like Him.  As we grow into His image and submit to His authority, our church will grow in love!

Love is the overarching theme of the Christian life and should characterize Christ’s church.    People walking in love will display the following characteristics towards each other:  humility, gentleness, peace, patience, forbearance, grace, and truth-speaking.  They will use their gifts to build up the church and help each other to grow in the knowledge of the Lord.  Paul defines this lifestyle as “walking in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called.”

If you have been called by Christ to be part of His body, are you behaving in a manner worthy of your calling?  Are you treating the other body parts (believers) the way that demonstrates unconditional love?  Are you doing your part to help your church grow healthy and strong in love?
