Putting God's Word into Practice…

Luke 12:35-59 ~Unlikely Reward

on April 15, 2012

This morning I was reading my Bible in Luke 12 and came across a verse I’ve never noticed before.  “Blessed are those servants whom the master finds awake when He comes.  Truly, I say to you, he will dress himself for service and have them recline at table and He will come and serve them.” (verse 37)  Doesn’t that take your breath away!  The Lord serving us in heaven.  How unworthy I feel to be served by Him.  Yet what a great reward for our earthly service.  Ther are no under-appreciated servants in Heaven!

  • teaching children
  • holding babies
  • making coffee
  • stocking bathroom toilet paper
  • cleaning up a spill
  • making a visitor feel welcome
  • listening to a weary mother
  • preaching a message
  • leading worship
  • playing an instrument
  • helping someone carry stuff to/from their car
  • buying water bottles
  • doing announcements
  • bringing snack
  • painting a ceiling
  • pulling weeds
  • taking the trash to the curb
  • Bible study hosting and leading
  • free babysitting

And those are just some ways people have been serving at our church!  Think about our opportunities to serve our husband, children, parents, family, boss, teacher, community, neighbors, etc…  Even if no one notices, the Lord of Heaven does and He will reward you.  So serve faithfully with all your heart!
